the keys to managing holiday stress 🧘

Your calendar is probably already full with Christmas events, holiday parties and catching up with family you haven't found time to see all year - but if you are at a loose end this weekend we have you covered! From a 1920's secret Christmas party to silent book clubs there is something to suit everyone.

Plus, if you want to escape the overwhelm of this season I have a few tips on how to manage holiday stress ;)

With the girls: Your chosen Christmas Party has arrived! The Candlelight Club is hosting a 1920's themed party in a secret London ballroom. So grab your besties and your flapper dress and book your tickets to this unique event here.

Going solo: Overwhelmed and over stimulated with everything Christmas? Take some time for yourself by joining a Silent Book Club. The idea is you go to a location in your city where a group of other book lovers gather to read whatever book they are currently into. This is a great way to feel like you are part of a community, and maybe meet a new friend while not having to socially interact if you don't feel like it!

Date night: JOIA's new rooftop cinema is the perfect place for a romantic date night right before Christmas. Head to Battersea Power Station for dinner and drinks followed by a cosy outdoor theatre experience complete with mulled wine and nougat flavoured popcorn. Book tickets here.

Staying in: Sticking with the 1920's theme, a night in watching The Great Gatsby while sipping on a homemade winter cocktail is a great way to treat yourself this weekend. And if, like me, you have seen the posters on the tube advertising that The Great Gatsby musical is coming to the London Coliseum theatre in spring 2025, you can start booking your tickets now.

West Cawthorn by North Yorkshire Hideaways: These A-frame cabins set in the stunning North Yorkshire countryside have been firmly at the top of my weekend getaway bucket list for the last year! The A-frames offer a cosy retreat from city life and would make a great January escape after the busy festive season. Complete with outdoor patio bathtubs and firepits I can't imagine a better way to treat yourself!

Winter Ice Rink At Beaverbrook: If the busy ice rinks in London don't really do it for you, head out to the Beaverbrook Hotel in the Surrey Hills where you can have a more relaxed ice skating experience at their winter ice rink. Go for the day or splurge and stay the night too! Book your experience here.

Rounding up our top picks for the week, including some of the UK's best female founded brands.

Della Vite Prosecco

It's officially the season for bubbles and no one is doing them better than Della Vite. This line of prosecco is brought to you by the Delavine sisters who saw a gap in the market for premium vegan prosecco. And for those of you who prefer a non-alcoholic option, they offer the Zero sparkling rosé. Buy your bubbles.

Flower Champagne Glasses

These pretty flower champagne coups from Oliver Bonas are on my Christmas list and should be on yours too! Perfect for hosting your girlfriends for a festive evening or even for that Christmas morning Mimosa - cheers! Get your set here.

The Whispering Angel Gift Box

Stuck on what to buy your girlfriends or send to your favourite aunt? These giftboxes from female founded business Not Another Bunch Of Flowers will arrive in time for Christmas and make gifting easy. Shop gift boxes here.

Managing holiday stress

I’ll be honest: I absolutely love the holiday season. Christmas lights, cosy nights in front of the TV watching Love Actually and Harry Potter, mulled wine <chef’s kiss>.

However, there is something I always seem to forget that catches me off guard every time this year - the calendar gets FULL.

If you’re feeling a bit of the holiday commitment overwhelm like me, here are a few tips that can help keep you feeling festive instead of frazzled:

Keep your normal routines

It’s easy to justify routines going out the window by saying “I’ll get back on track in January”, but try to decide what routines are most important to you - like working out, eating healthy, or reading before bed - and stick to them as much as you can.

Set expectations

It’s easy to have unrealistic expectations of what your holiday will look like, filled with a light snowfall, perfect food, and zero family drama.

Reality will probably be different from that, and that’s ok!

Instead of trying to force the “I need to be happy every minute” attitude, take the pressure off by finding enjoyment in the little things and know that things won’t go perfectly according to plan.

Focus on your favourite parts of the holidays

We all have traditions that we do on autopilot, but when’s the last time you really thought about what makes you the most happy during the holiday season?

If you love reading a new book by the fire (or a portable electric heater like me), then filling your calendar with dinners and parties might not be the best fit.

This is your holiday season, so feel free to say no to some things to open up space for the things you truly enjoy.

Have a lovely weekend!

See you on Monday where we will dive into career focused themes to get your through the holidays.
