๐จ IN THE FRAME The Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition is the one London show that changes completely every year, with more than a thousand works hung floor to ceiling and almost all of them for sale. This is a lovely place to spend a few hours, solo, with a friend or a new connection. It closes on 23 August, so this is the month to catch it.
๐ง PRESS PLAY The Shift with Sam Baker is a set of conversations with women about work, ambition and reinventing yourself later in life. Baker edited Cosmopolitan and Red before this, and she is a warm, direct interviewer making this a good listen during your morning commute.
๐ฌ UNDER THE STARS Outdoor cinema season is on across London, from a screen on the lawn at Kew to rooftops above the city. Time Out keeps a current list of where to watch a film outdoors this summer, covering everything from old classics to this year's releases.
๐ ON THE SHELF Friendaholic by Elizabeth Day is a warm, honest look at adult friendship, how we collect people, which relationships actually matter, and why we so rarely talk about friendships that end.
๐ง FOOD FOR THOUGHT If the slower summer pace has you taking stock, Elizabeth Gilbert's TED talk on success, failure and the drive to keep creating is nineteen minutes well spent. Her point, that success and failure can knock you off course in much the same way, is a steadying thing to hear if this year has handed you a bit of both.
๐ TRACK IT DOWN Ahead of Wednesday's Wealth Panel, here is a quick pension tip you can take action on right away. Through your career, you have probably had at least one company change leading to more than one workplace pension pot. The government's free Pension Tracing Service gives you the contact details to find old workplace and personal pensions, so you can see what you actually have and start thinking about bringing it together.

Positioning Yourself For Boards |
If a board seat is on your horizon, and the masterclass we are hosting with Hanover City CV on 30th July suggests it is for a few of you, this list is a good place to start looking. The government runs a free, public list of board and non-executive roles on public bodies, from committee members to chairs, with new ones added throughout the year.
A public appointment is one of the more accessible ways to get your first board experience, and browsing what is currently open gives you a feel for how these roles are described and what they ask for.

CAREER
The Best Investments You Can Make in 2026 (That Have Nothing to Do with Money)

HABITS
The Compound Effect: Small Professional Habits That Create Outsized Returns
The habits that change a career are usually too small to feel like they are doing much. This breaks down the handful that pay off most, and why a slower month is a sensible time to start them.

That is everything for this week. Our Wealth Panel on the gender pension gap is happening tomorrow, and there is still time to join us. You can find that and everything else coming up on our Events Page here, and I would love to see you at one this summer.
Warmly,
Rebecca
